1. Please let the instructor make AND end the call/meeting contact.

2. If the instructor is more than 10 minutes late, please contact via phone or text.

3. Please have your stringed instrument set up and tuned before your lesson, and all materials (capos, picks, lead sheets, notebooks, pencils, etc.) on the ready. Take notes!

4. If you need to adjust the position of your device, please mute the audio beforehand.

5. Whenever possible, please do the following:

“Plug in” your instrument and use your amp.
Use a wired internet connection rather than Wi-Fi.
Use headphones, ear buds, or external speakers.
Interface your instrument to your device.
Use an external microphone.
Loud noises can overload microphones (especially built-in device mics) and being too far away can cause the sound to disappear all together. Please experiment to find a “goldie-locks” distance.
Use Zoom. It’s is easy to record the lesson, and audio settings are more customizable for music.
Change Zoom settings to improve audio quality:

Desktop App

Click on the arrow next to the mute button at the bottom of the window and select “Audio Settings.”
Test your microphone level while playing/singing. If the meter maxes out, lower the Input volume.
Uncheck “automatically adjust microphone volume”
Click the Advanced button
Check box for “Show in-meeting option to ‘Enable Original Sound’ from microphone”
Suppress Persistent Background Noise: Disable
Suppress Intermittent Background Noise: Disable
Echo Cancellation: Auto

Mobile App

Before joining the meeting, click “Settings” then “Meeting”
Turn on “Use Original Sound”
During the meeting, click “More Option” and “Enable Original Sound”
